Ascent of the colossal Oiz
This route to the top of Oiz pass is for people in good physical shape Starting from Gernika-Lumo, the route passes through Arratzu on the way to Munitibar. There it continues to the Gambe crossroads, to take the demanding concrete track that climbs up to Oiz.
It’s worth taking a rest at the top to enjoy the marvellous view. Carefully descend the track and when you reach the road, turn left towards Urrutxua. Once we have left the Bizkaia viewpoint behind us, we return to Gernika via Mendata.

What to see on the route?
From the top of Mount Oiz (1026 m), you can see both a panoramic view of the Cantabrian coast and Urdaibai and the peaks of the western Pyrenees.
The views from the Balcony of Bizkaia viewpoint are also exceptional.
