We leave Bermeo in the direction of Bakio Halfway along the route we turn off towards Matxitxako, where we can enjoy beautiful views of the Cantabrian Sea and Gaztelugatxe. This is a protected area of great natural and scenic interest.
After passing the San Pelaio viewpoint, we descend to Bakio, where we can rest on the beach before returning to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, passing the Eneperi viewpoint. From Lurgorri all that awaits us is a pleasant descent down to the port of Bermeo.

What can you see on the route?
You can enjoy the best panoramic view of our coastline from the Matxitxako lighthouse, as it’s the most northerly cape in the Basque Country.
On clear days you can see the Cantabrian and French coasts, and closer, the islet of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe and Aketze to the west and Izaro and the rock of Ogoño to the east.
From the San Pelaio pass viewpoint (319 m), there are also beautiful views of the Cantabrian Sea.
