Through the heart of Urdaibai
On this simple mountain bike route, you’ll ride along the estuary between Mundaka and Gernika-Lumo on a mountain bike.
From Sukarrieta the route runs along quiet inland country roads, allowing us to fully enjoy the rich scenery of the estuary’s landscape; a contrast of land, water, and air.
The views along the route are breathtakingly beautiful, especially when we reach the Tejera and the Murueta jetties; this is one of the most beautiful corners of Urdaibai.

What to see on the route?
This mountain bike route takes you through the beautiful fishing village of Mundaka, with magnificent views from Portuondo or the Atalaya viewpoint.
You’ll also discover Sukarrieta, another coastal village where it’s worth visiting the marshland park and admiring the island of Txatxarramendi.
At halfway, you can find Tejera and the Murueta jetties, an old tile factory with a typical chimney, and a row of seven wooden jetties in a beautiful setting. It’s worth stopping to take a photo!
