Forua - Barrutiabaso as a family

It’s an easy, circular route along the footbridges of the upper estuary and the nearest villages and neighbourhoods.

Leaving Gernika-Lumo, we’ll head towards Forua, passing by the hermitage of San Cristóbal, the Urdaibai tower, the Atxaga quarry, and the Roman settlement of Forua.

In Forua there’s a play area and a large zip line, ideal for the little ones.

We then descend to the estuary promenade (with any luck we’ll see a stork) and cross to the other side via the footbridge.

The path between Barrutiabaso and Barrutia is lovely and quiet. The bidegorri (cycle path) will bring us back to Gernika.
